The First Step

Expected Death

When someone dies, whether expected or not, many people tend to rush into action. Be with your person in that moment. How you feel will be different for everyone, but trust us on this…be still and be there.

“When that last breath is taken, and the room gets quiet, sit with it. Pause, breathe, and just
be with it. That moment is sacred, there is no need to rush anything after that.”

~Gabrielle Elise Jimenez, Hospice nurse, End of Life Doula

Depending on where your person died, there will be a different process, however they will need to be transferred after necessary documentation is completed by relevant medical personnel. Please contact us for further information.

Unexpected Death

Words will never be able to describe the feeling of the sudden death of someone we love. The shock and emotional turmoil can stay with you for a long time.

In the case of a sudden death, it is recommended to call emergency services (000 or 112 from a mobile phone) and report the situation. Give them as many details as you can and wait for professional help to arrive. It is important to stay calm and follow their instructions.
